marie osmond dolls i've never been a fan of marie osmond's dolls. they're too 'southern pagent' for my tastes. weenie-chan had me searching for an anne estelle outfit for one of her dorries and i saw this little doll and was like 'omg that's friggin adorable!' clicked on it and it's...a marie osmond doll. ok. i looked at all of them in the series and yeah they're damn cute- less creepy than goodreau dolls. then i looked a bit more and oh damn...she redid penny brite. and they're all cute as hell penny brites...i want! tinkerbell! and red riding hood! and alice! oh my! |

Various Bits and Bobs
Long time since I've posted! I am in the midst of 2 quilt projects - 2 friends from my old sewing group (which now mostly drinks coffee terribly early in the morning, when I am asleep)are experiencing quiltable life events. Upsetting ones not fun things like babies. One is dealing with breast cancer and the other is dealing with mouth and throat surgery (or possible surgeries). I offered up about 200 of my 9 patch squares to make 2 throw sized quilts. My friend Karen is making one top and I am making the other. In some possibly misguided way I decided to make the alternate blocks on my top, snowball blocks. While they are easy enough, I need over 80 of them!! I got 23 more of them cut and the corners stitched. Now they need trimming and pressing. Including the 12 I had before I still need... YIKES 47!! At long last I have the flannel sheet up on the design wall in the sewing room and thanks to the photo Bob made of the layout I had done in the middle of the living room, I have the squares up on the wall in the proper configuration. I may use an alternate fabric, an nice blue batik for some of the squares. Probably won't snowball those. My tennis elbow is sore tonight from all the rotary cutting I did. I will need some Advil I think. In about 10 days our group will get together for 2 days and hopefully layer and quilt and bind these quilts. In other news I got my new glasses - they are my first since 2003 and are so different I will need some time to stop feeling seasick. Sewing worked great though, and the TV sure looks sharp! We had a great meetup on the 17th. Such wonderful dolls and of course our doll buddies are just the best folks there are!! Here is a link to Emily's photos over on DoA. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?361359-Olympia-March-2010-Meetup Thanks for visiting. Cheers Current Mood: creative |

The Inconvenient Life
There's sneezing while your mouth is full of rice. Walking with a pebble inside your shoe. Wrestling with an uncooperative bra the entire day. Stifling a yawn during an important but impossibly boring meeting. And then there's pregnancy. Right now I feel like I'm permanently bloated. Maybe because I am bloated. I can't crouch or squat anymore. I tend to fall asleep in mid-sentence and sometimes, mid-thought. But even when I'm keeling over to sleep, I have to first strategically arrange my pillows to prop certain body parts or I will snore, asphyxiate or have weird dreams (as if my dreams are not weird enough). Finally, when I've settled in, I have to get up and urinate for the gazillionth time. Every time I see the long line of pregnant women at the OB-Gyne clinic, I can't help but wonder: "Why, girls, why?" My mother told me it's going to be worth it. I made her nauseous, sleepy, listless, bloated, constipated, overly emotional and utterly uncomfortable for nine months and still she thinks I'm worth it. Mothers are unbelievable.Plus, I can no longer skate. Something always gets in the way of my skating – a kink that sent me splattering down the road, my mom and now, my pregnancy. As owners are wont to vicariously live their fantasies through their dolls, I sent Veritas skating. Rainbows, unicorns, flat children -- a plea from me to you
Wow, thanks for all of the feedback on my painting adventure! I'd like to put together some pictures of the rest of the house that sort of give you an idea how odd and teeny it is. That sort of thing fascinates me, trinity rowhomes are common fare in this city, but aren't especially well known elsewhere. I love how areas develop their own architecture. *page turn music* And speaking of where we live and how awesome you guys are, I need help! Gideon is doing the Flat Stanley Project in school and we need a host! Several, even. The long and short of it: Flat Stanley is a children's book written by Jeff Brown in 1964, and in it, Stanley is a normal boy who gets flattened by a bulletin board and discovers the neato things he can do now that he's flat. One of those things is travel by mail. A project began in London which had kids mailing out their own Stanleys and seeing what sort of adventures he could go on. The results are pretty amazing and the project spread. So, now Gideon has a Stanley and we need to send him to someone who is willing to host him for a week and then mail him back. While we do have relatives who might be game, I'd love to see if anyone here might be willing to help out since a.) most of you live in exciting places b.) I can safely say the lot of you would be a bit more excited about a paper boy than my 65 year old Aunt in Florida. We'd love to send him far away (we're in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA) and while the class project only involves one host, then Stanley's report on his trip, I would absolutely love to keep sending him out if any more people are willing -- I think it would make for a fun project over the summer especially. If you're interested, here's how it would work: - We mail you Stanley and his instructions! I'll try to include some fun stuff, maybe a postcard from our city and a picture from Gideon?
- You take him with you for a week and show him a good time! We're just looking for an idea of where you live, what the weather was like and maybe some pictures of Stanley seeing the sights. You'll get to draw appropriate clothing on him and a postcard or map or some sort of paper souvenir of your city would be amazing.
- You mail him back! I'd be happy to pay for his return postage and you could email me any pictures you have taken so you do not have to print them.
I'd have to ask that you stick to the week deadline, so Gideon will have Stanley back in time to present his adventure to the class. Please only agree to help if you're sure you'll have no problem participating. We have to have him mailed out to you by April 4th. We'd also be happy to host other Stanleys if anyone wants to send out their own! I think this could be fun, and I'll chronicle Stanley's adventures here or on Flickr. So, if you'd like to participate, leave a comment or email me at kittykattoes AT gmail (please remind me of where you live so we can plan Stanley's trip accordingly). THANK YOU!! KISSES AND HUGS!! *** Edited to add: Yay! There is interest! We absolutely want to send him anywhere and everywhere he is welcome, so once we have a better idea of where he might be able to go, we'll plan his trips and get specifics. I might just give Gid a map and let him choose the order, so this is definitely be an ongoing project. Please comment if you'd like to participate! |

I have a new crush...
...and it is roller derby! Goodbye, Modern Warfare 2, I have found a more badass lover. I went to a fan choice scrimmage on Saturday to support a friend and watch her play. I loved it so much that I want to participate in Fresh Meat (starts May) and hopefully join the league. I used to do a lot of in-line skating as well as ice skating, but never roller skating. So, I will be hitting up Scooter's Roller Palace next Thursday to give it a try. If anybody wants to join me, give me a holla! ♥ And if you want to know more about how roller derby works, feel free to leave a comment. Also, my stuff from Y!J Auctions has shipped from Shopping Mall Japan and should be at my house tonight. I'm so excited! I got Angelic Pretty's Heart Marine one piece in pink, Angelic Pretty lace wristcuffs, Baby the Stars Shine Bright bunny capelet, and my Kuroshitsuji cosplay. Ahhh, it's gonna be like Christmas! ..studies.. thankyou for all the feedback and opinions about my last piece. positive or negative, i appreciate them both. reading these comments gives me a different perspective and makes me want to try something new. so ive been having some fun doing these small 'studies'. i tried to be more loose with the marks, and i must say, i enjoyed it immensely! no matter the outcome, the process was really refreshing. both are 6"x8". I found some short recordings I forgot I'd made on my crappy mp3 player from the Neko Case show at Bluesfest last year, just as an experiment to see what, if anything, would actually come through from such a tiny mic in my pocket. As I pretty much expected, the levels were all blown and the sound quality was terrible, but I did capture a bit of stage banter. Random dude in audience: Marry me, Neko!Neko: What?Dude: Marry me!Neko: I'm not the marrying kind, sir.Neko: I like to have the whoooole bed to myself. And I think they played "Hold On, Hold" On right after that. |

volks is evil
so today a little bird brain pointed out that the dolls for the ny dolpa were announced. and it's all the alice in wonderland yo's. dammit. i love that little boy as the white rabbit. and i've always wanted a yo. this would majorly take a chunk out of the whole 'no more spending-pay down the card' deal. like after ticket, travel, doll, etc i'm looking at $600+ for one day. that's just insane, but i'd do it if i had the money put aside. plus it's right smack dab during our big sale-getting a sat off? yeah good luck me. gah but i really want to go. tickets go on sale april 10th. i hope they can post prices so i can better think on it all. they said you can preorder dolls-so i imagine they'll do like they did with the painting classes and make you pay for it while you're reserving. while digging out my volks membership card i found 2 old scratch off lottery tickets that i won on that i never cashed in-luckily it was only $4, and a gift certif for craig that he can't remember if he ever cashed in...omg. we need to overhaul this house big time. i haven't opened the drawer all this was in in prolly 2 years...found the card though... aww
The line for the dealers was already a little long. The numbers which my husband and I got did not look good enough. I had to consider a lot whether I keep being in the line or move to the line for the limited dolls. Because I wanted all SDs from this Dolpa. After all, I decided to go to the dealer booth. I had been praying hard until I was called... The outfits were already sold out, some accessories which I had wanted were also sold out, but we were able to get some items!!!!! I got very excited. More...
There was a great worth in the dinner party. My husband and I enjoyed everything. The dinner was tasty. The number for me was "2". At the lottery, I won a bottle of white wine. My husband won nothing. There were Sei-Tenshi and Rei-Tenshi that had rabbit ears and I really wanted to win one of Sei-Tenshi but that dream did not come true. The dinner party was presented by the Queen of Hearts, but she had been in the bed with the grief because the strawberry tart which was made by her had been stolen by somebody. In the party, Volks staffs found the burglars, and the burglars were sent the gifts from Volks because they were honest enough! The gifts were a mug-cup, a tramp outfit for SD and something (I forgot!). How lucky the burglars whose chairs had a card of strawberry tart under the seat were! The time schedule for the dinner party was from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm but it ended at 7:00 pm. When we leave the party room, there were Hijikata and Okita in the glass show case! We went to look at One-Off models after the party. I was very tired when I tried to sleep, so I thought I would not be able to wake up well next morning. I'm taking a sleep inducing drug every night, but I felt I did not need it at that night...which was a big mistake! I was not able to sleep even for 1 minute, and had looked at my watch many times in the bed. When I saw it marked 4:20 am, I decided not to try to sleep and woke up calmly. I tried to wash my face as calmly as possible, but my husband woke up with a big surprise and said, "Unbelievable, you are full of a motivation! I thought you would not be able to wake up and we would be able to take the breakfast very slowly!"...yes, me, too...orz I decided to try the dealer booth which I always adore. We went to take the breakfast from 5:50 am, and there were some people and Volks staffs. The room was opened from 6:00 am, then a lot of people (the participants of this hotel event) came to take the breakfast! OMG so many! We must hurry up! We left the hotel very quickly and started to be in the line from a very very early morning to 11:00 am! This really was a hard work for me, though I believe all people were also very tired. having computer problems
so let me leave you with this for now... I want to print this one up and frame it. Or maybe this one. I can not decide. I can say sticking your head into this does make you forget headaches for a short time. Only thing done to this photo was cropping. And no, this is not in Japan. |

New Orleans here I come! Whoopee! Woot-woot! Just bought tickets for New Orleans in April. I haven't been in 9 years, a cryin' shame. And Mr. Kallisti hasn't been at all. But life happens, ya know. It is our first proper vacation since Europe in 2007. So we're over due. Will be bunkin' in the French Quarter with this gorgeous fella. Oh yeah.
Mad spooky photoshoot in our original circa 1850's carriage house. Your host le Todd.
